Professional Development 2022
So far this year I've attended a variety of online professional development sessions to increase my teaching and learning knowledge. These include music and drama activities for the classroom, new art supplies and resources, and a session to learn more about ADHD.

Creative 'Couch Choir' Singing Despite COVID-19 Isolation
I'm still able to attend e-hearsals on Facebook Live for Open Door Singers on Monday evenings. Another exciting opportunity came up with Couch Choir (also known as Pub Choir) to sing Heroes by David Bowie. I was one of 6,000 singers to submit a video of myself singing this song (High Ladies part) over the weekend. The editor Paris will somehow compile all these videos into one video performance. My cat, Mei Mei, and dog, Lexi, also feature in my video. So, watch this space!

Choir singing again!
After last year's ukulele lessons and the previous year singing with the Voice Collective choir in Greensborough I'm now back singing with Open Door Singers in Canterbury! It's great to be singing with such a huge choir again. Any one Monday night at rehearsal there are approx. 200 singers! I'm singing the alto part, which presents many more challenges because the altos often sing a harmony. Inspiring and uplifting!

Wally Wombat Shuffle
I've also been teaching students the Wally Wombat Shuffle which they will perform at their end of year concert next month for parents. Students are singing and moving to this fun and catchy tune! Wally Wombat Shuffle by Coco's Lunch

Start or Revive Your School Choir
In February I participated in this fantastic professional development day in Kew. I love these workshops as I always come away with many new games, techniques and skills to use as a teacher.

Developing New Skills to add to my Teacher Tool Kit
I am at an exciting crossroads now looking to use my creative skills in other education-related fields while I recover from a minor shoulder condition. I am doing volunteer Social Media Digital Design for a community choir called the Open Door Singers. Music is good for the soul, and I sing with this choir regularly, including a flash mob performance at a Legal Aid fundraising lunch - what a blast! I am learning new skills in graphic design, including working through an Alison Online Graphic Design Course, which will ultimately benefit my students.
